Market Maker

A market maker is a broker-dealer that stands ready to buy and sell a particular stock. A market maker quotes two-way prices in the security.

It may also refer to a market maker prospectus. When a broker-dealer is affiliated with an issuer, a current prospectus is required for the issuer’s broker-dealer affiliate to engage in market making transactions in its affiliated issuer’s securities.
